Common problems
The microphone is blocked. Click the icon to the left of the address bar and allow the microphone for the site, then try again. Your computer’s privacy settings must allow the browser to use the microphone too. The mic test lists the fixes step by step.
No sound is recorded. Check that the right microphone is selected, that it isn’t muted, and that the meter moves when you speak.
A tab or computer recording is silent. Turn on “Also share tab audio” or “Also share system audio” in Chrome’s sharing window. See record computer audio.
My recording disappeared. Recordings stay under Your recordings in the browser you made them in. Clearing the browser’s data for this site, a private window, or another browser or computer won’t have them. Download recordings you want to keep.
The extension’s icon doesn’t open the recorder. Voice Recorder opens in Chrome’s side panel. Update Chrome, then click the icon again. To record a tab, click the icon while you are on that tab.
