    About MP3

MP3 is compressed audio that almost everything plays. Convert MP3 to WAV when an editor, a sampler or another tool asks for WAV.

Converting doesn’t bring back detail MP3 compression removed, but the WAV won’t lose any more when you edit and save it again.

    Quality and size

WAV is saved as 16-bit PCM at 48 kHz, in mono or stereo like the original. The result is about 11.5 MB a minute in stereo.

    Private by design

Converters that upload your file keep a copy on someone else’s server, at least for a while. Here the conversion happens on your device, with your browser’s own audio decoders and an MP3 encoder that runs in the page. Nothing is uploaded, and it works on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebooks.
